Unknown liquid at Pelham High prompts early dismissal

November 22. 2017 12:59AM

PELHAM — Pelham High School students were sent home early Tuesday after a report of an unknown liquid in the building.

The school resource officer was first made aware at 11:25 a.m. that a student had brought the bottle of liquid to the school.

Additional officers were called in to assist in the investigation of what officials deemed to be a possible safety hazard.

The Pelham Fire Department responded to the incident and students were moved over to the elementary school so the air quality at the high school could be checked.

School officials decided to call for the school buses to dismiss the students early.

All air quality testing of the high school was negative. Staff members were allowed back into the building and Tuesday’s remaining activities went on as scheduled.
