November 19. 2017 7:14PM

PELHAM — Gusting winds swept across New Hampshire on Sunday, knocking down trees and disrupting power service for thousands of residents.

A large tree fell on power lines running along Nashua Road in Pelham, causing local outages and shutting down traffic on the road until the tree could be removed, police said Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Sunday afternoon and evening, when sustained winds of 30 mph were expected with gusts reaching 50 mph.

Damage from the winds caused power outages throughout the state, hitting southern areas and the Seacoast especially hard.
