Manchester police: Man in custody after threatening suicide

MANCHESTER — A man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after police said he threatened suicide.

Police responded to the area of 232 Old Wellington Road at 2:39 p.m. and discovered a “despondent male” with a firearm, Sgt. Christopher Biron said in a news release.

“Additional officers responded as well as the BearCat while officers contained the area and began a dialogue with the male,” police said in the release.

After a brief standoff, the man was taken into custody; police did not identify him.

Police said the matter remains under investigation.
