Manchester man faces multiple charges after brief West Side chase

October 19. 2017 11:59AM

MANCHESTER — A city man who police said was driving on a suspended license was arrested on several charges Wednesday morning after a brief chase on the West Side, police said.

According to a release, Sgt. Richard Brown tried to stop a 2006 BMW at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday at McGregor Square after noticing the driver, Nuri Bajraktari, 19, was driving on a suspended license. Bajraktari allegedly accelerated as he drove south on South Main Street past Catholic Medical Center, narrowly missing several oncoming cars and running a red light at Conant Street, police said. Brown stopped his pursuit due to Bajraktari’s alleged high speed, police said.

Other officers found Bajraktari outside his Brock Street home a few minutes later, police said, where he was arrested when he tried to go inside.

He was charged with disobeying a police officer, reckless conduct, resisting arrest and driving after suspension, police said. Bajraktari was released on $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court North on Oct. 26.
