DURHAM — Junior wide receiver Rory Donovan has been dismissed from the University of New Hampshire football team, according to UNH head coach Sean McDonnell.
Donovan played in five games this season, and was second on the team in receptions (26), receiving yards (295) and receiving touchdowns (three).
“He’s broken team policy and team rules and won’t be playing for us the rest of the season,” McDonnell said Wednesday before his weekly press conference. “He’ll be done.”
Donovan, who lives in Canton, Mass., played in 10 of UNH’s 12 games during the 2015 season, and in nine of 13 games last season. He caught 13 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman, and had 27 receptions for 348 yards and three TDs as a sophomore.
Donovan played high school football at Cardinal Spellman in Brockton, Mass.
