High School Roundup: Memorial's boys' soccer team earns important win

Manchester Memorial did itself a huge favor in its playoff push with a 3-2 home victory over Exeter in Division I boys’ soccer play Friday in Manchester.

Andrew Franklin and Jordan Trombly gave the Crusaders a 2-0 lead, and Mersudin Omerdegovic scored the third Memorial (5-7-2) goal after Exeter (10-2-2) got one from Lee Veader. Quinn Mantegari added one for the Blue Hawks.

Salem 1, Bedford 0: At Salem, the Blue Devils snapped the Bulldogs’ 12-game winning streak with a penalty kick in the first minute of the second half, which was Salem’s only shot on Bedford goalkeeper Aidan Wisherd. The Bulldogs are 12-2. The Blue Devils are 11-2-1.

Londonderry 8, Keene 1: At Londonderry, Zack Deleo, Josh Ryan and Tyler van Avery scored twice for Londonderry (10-2-2), which also got goals from Josh Rutina and James Cranmer. Luca Amerena notched two assists. Alex Hufford made four saves. Noah Timmer scored for Keene (5-8-1), which got 10 saves from its goalie combo of Charlie Zwierzchowski and Conrad Lee.

Pinkerton 4, Bishop Guertin 0: At Nashua, Alex Rust scored twice in the first two minutes to send the Astros (10-4) on their way. Hunter Rathburn and Terence Coyle added second-half goals. Joe Palmer and Brian Castle each had two assists. Max Fairbank earned the clean sheet with three saves. Bishop Guertin is 1-13.

Windham 3, Souhegan 1: At Windham, Vincent Marino, Jake Morgan and Cam Atkinson scored for the Jaguars (13-1) before Monty Jones scored on a late penalty kick for the Sabers (7-5). Matt Greany made 14 saves for Souhegan, and Ben Wentworth stopped seven for Windham.

Hanover 4, Dover 0: At Dover, Charlie Adams scored his team-leading 11th goal and Sam Tych also scored for Hanover, which collected two own goals off of corner kicks. Liam Collins added two assists and Joey Perras made two saves for this sixth shutout in goal. Hanover, 11-4, is on a Division I-best nine-game win streak. Matt Stiles made seven saves for Dover (3-11).

Derryfield 2, Gilford 1 (2OT): At Manchester, Emir Islamovic scored the winner on a shot from the top of the box five minutes into the second overtime session.

Harrison Bogursky scored in the 49th minute for Derryfield, and Sander Gamache answered for Gilford in the 78th minute to send it to overtime. Nate Kelsey hit the post twice for Derryfield.

Derryfield (13-0) goalkeeper Oliver Sattler had five saves, and Ethan Warren had 10 saves for Gilford (10-3).

Lebanon 6, Manchester West 1: At Manchester, West’s Carson Filardo scored the game’s first goal but Lebanon scored four goals in a five-minute span of the first half to take control. Owen Johnstone recorded a hat trick, Logan Falzarano scored two and Tyler St. Martin added a goal. Chris Nulty had six saves for Lebanon (9-4-1) and Gavin Fitzpatrick stopped 12 for West (5-8-1).

Girls’ soccer

Campbell 3, Somersworth 0: At Somersworth, freshman Karleigh Schultz notched a goal and an assist for the Cougars. Sara Keane and Autumn Thompson also scored for Campbell (9-4-1). Kate Stoncius and Emma Rousseau added assists. Alicia Noury made seven saves and Sierra Reinitzer stopped six shots for Campbell. Molly Lewis made 16 saves for Somersworth (0-15).

Pinkerton 1, Bishop Guertin 0: At Derry, Macy Graves’ goal on a penalty kick made the difference for the Astros (8-4-2). Reagan Kolinski made three saves for Pinkerton. BG is 2-11.

Alvirne 1, Timberlane 1: At Plaistow, Ashley Lecomte scored for the Broncos to tie the game. Jaylin Enright had the assist. Brittney Whiting had five saves for Alvirne.

Merrimack 4, Dover 2: At Merrimack, Allison Sullivan scored twice, and Jenna Chambers and Riley Streeper added goals for the Tomahawks (4-10). Dover is 3-10-1.

Field hockey

Londonderry 9, Nashua North 0: At Londonderry, Krista Fletcher and Courtney Shay recorded hat tricks, Allie Marsh added two goals and Lauren Mullen scored once for the Lancers (8-5). Fletcher also notched an assist, as did Lauren Doherty. Morgan Brutus was not called upon to make a save for the shutout, while Zoe Fillebrown made 11 saves for North (1-13).

Pinkerton 2, Exeter 0: In Derry, the Astros finished their regular season at 13-1, thanks to goals by Emma Harris and Maddie Perendna. Pinkerton goalie Khaliyah Ellis stopped four shots.


Pinkerton 3, Bishop Guertin 1: At Derry, Amelia Graves had 14 kills, 30 digs and two blocks for the Astros (14-2), who got eight kills and a block from Brooke Kane, 12 service points and nine kills from Ella Dandrade, and 31 assists from Sara Metzger. Paola Matos had five aces and 21 digs for BG, which got seven kills and 29 digs from Mariana Gomez, and eight kills and 14 assists from Julia Pascucci.

Londonderry 3, Keene 1: At Keene, Maddie Sanborn led the Lancers (5-11) with 15 kills. Josie Collins added 12 kills and 13 service points. Anna Haas had 34 assists. Britney Clark had 25 service points. Keene is 3-12.
