Nashua man charged in theft of checks, forgery

A Nashua man was charged Monday with forgery, a Class B felony, after police said they received a report of stolen checks and fraudulent bank activity in August.

Matthew Carrier, 28, of 15 Edmatteric Drive, was arrested about 2:40 p.m., police said. Besides forgery, he also was charged with theft by deception, a Class A felony, and theft by unauthorized taking, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a release, police received a report Aug. 25 that checks had been stolen from a home and made out to Carrier with forged signatures, which Carrier had cashed in the total amount of $4,540.

Carrier's bail was set at $5,000 cash only. He was scheduled to appear in Nashua circuit court Tuesday.
