DOVER - The Strafford County Drug Task Force will receive $87,950 in Granite Hammer funding after county commissioners approved the funds Friday morning.

Sheriff David Dubois said the money has “contributed greatly to bringing dangerous drug dealers to justice as well as assisting people suffering from addiction to start down the road to recovery.”

In June, officials announced the arrest of 13 people during three months. Two people were arrested for the sale of heroin, eight were arrested for possession of heroin, one was arrested for the possession of cocaine, one was arrested for the possession of suboxone and one person was arrested for the distribution of gabapentin, a prescription drug used in epilepsy treatment and for nerve pain.

This year, $2.4 million was allotted to expand Granite Hammer, allowing more communities to participate.
