Recipe for happiness

August 29. 2017 11:22PM

To the Editor: Every day we hear about anger, violence and hate. Recently I came across a recipe in an old cookbook that I would like to share and hope that you will, too.

As printed in the 1978 edition of The Burke Haven Parish Cookbook:

Happiness Cake by Susan S. Carr

1 c. good thoughts 2 c. sacrifice

1 c. kind deeds 2 c. forgiveness

1 c. consideration for others 2 c. well beaten faults

Mix well and add 1 tablespoon joy, sorrow, sympathy;

Flavor with love and service.

Fold in 4 cups prayer and faith. After pouring into daily life, bake well.

From Mrs. Ruth Allard, L. I. Home Economics teacher.

So, with that said, please be kind. We need it so badly these days.
