DIXVILLE — A Massachusetts man was hurt Monday when his ATV rolled over on him, Fish and Game officials said.

Roger T. Rand, 52, of Winchester, was driving the rented ATV on the Flume Brook Road Trail around noon.

“While navigating downhill on a rough section of trail, Rand lost control of his ATV and went off the side of the trail,” Fish and Game said in a news release. “During this, Rand believes he activated the ATV's front brakes and it subsequently rolled over onto him.”

Rand was wearing a helmet and after resting for a little, decided to continue riding, Fish and Game said.

At approximately 2 p.m., he and his riding party made it to Diamond Peaks Store and called for help.

Rand was taken by 45th Parallel EMS to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital.

“This crash is still under investigation, however it appears that inexperience with operating this rented ATV was a primary factor in the crash,” the news release states.
