Sununu set to sign order allowing VA docs at CMC

August 14. 2017 1:00PM

MANCHESTER - Gov. Chris Sununu plans to visit Catholic Medical Center Monday afternoon to sign an emergency licensing order that is expected to allow Veterans Affairs physicians to provide medical care outside of a VA facility, sources said.

Physicians who move to New Hampshire from out-of-state are not required to obtain a New Hampshire license as long as they have a license from another state and confine their practice to VA facilities, such as the Manchester VA Medical Center, according to Peter Danles, executive director of the New Hampshire Board of Medicine.

Last week, the VA entered into an agreement with CMC to allow VA physicians to perform procedures on VA patients at the West Side hospital. That followed last month's damage at the Manchester VA clinic when a water pipe ruptured.

A press conference is slated for 4:45 p.m. in the CMC executive board room, 195 McGregor St.
