Goffstown police station to get ATM in lobby
GOFFSTOWN — A new ATM will be coming to the Goffstown Police Department sometime in the near future.
The ATM will be in the lobby of the 326 Mast Road police station, come at no cost to the town, and will be privately owned and maintained.
“All it would need is basically an electronic feed for it,” said Capt. Kerry Steckowych.
The hope is that it will increase efficiency for both officers and those who come in to the station to pay for permits, reports or fees.
The department currently doesn’t accept debit or credit card payments.
The machine can also be used by those looking to post bail as well.
“Often, you’ll have somebody sitting in the booking room waiting for somebody to arrive with cash,” Steckowych said.
There will be a fee charged by the company to withdraw money, but selectmen voted on Monday not to raise the fee so that the town could collect additional revenue from having the machine in the police station lobby. For example, if the standard fee set by the company that owns the machine is $2.25, the town could raise that to $3 and collect the balance.
The ATM is not recommended for public use, though residents or those passing by can stop in to use it.
