Get ready for funk master Maceo Parker

GOFFSTOWN — Tenor saxophonist, singer, composer and band leader Maceo Parker and his Legendary Funk Band will play the Dana Center for the Humanities at St. Anselm College at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Parker, who has described himself as “2-percent jazz, 98-percent funky stuff,” is celebrating 50 years in the music industry. Along the way, he’s collaborated with fellow funk masters George Clinton and the late James Brown, Ray Charles and Prince, as well as Ani DiFranco, James Taylor, De La Soul, Dave Matthews Band and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Tickets are $33.75; $29.75 for senior citizens and $14.75 for New Hampshire college and university students and children under 14 and $7.75 for St. Anselm students. For details, call 641-7700 or visit anselm.edu/dana.
