A creepy, crawly creature revels in exercising its many brightly colored legs.

PORTSMOUTH — Momix, the innovative dance company founded by Moses Pendleton, brings “Opus Cactus” back to life in an illusionistic dance that conjures the American Southwest.

Audiences will think the stage is crawling with slithering lizards, fire dancers and cactus-dotted landscapes as dancers continuously morph into new shapes and movements.

Originally created as a 20-minute piece in 2001 for Ballet Arizona, “Opus Cactus” was then brought back to MOMIX’s repertory and a full-evening work was created.

The colorful spectacle creeps, crawls and blooms in an 8 p.m. show Saturday at The Music Hall, 28 Chestnut St.

Tickets to the Seacoast show are $35, $46 and $54. For more information, visit themusichall.org or call 436-2400.
