NH Club Notes: Bedford Lions accepting scholarship applications

January 05. 2017 10:35PM

BEDFORD — The Bedford Lions Club is beginning its 47th annual memorial scholarship program. This year, two $1,000 tuition scholarships will be awarded.

High school seniors who are Bedford residents may obtain application forms from their high school principal or guidance counselors, any member of the Bedford Lions Club, the Bedford Pharmacy or the Bedford Public Library. The application deadline is March 31.

The awards, like last year, are funded by a donation from businessman Gary Chartrand, a former scholarship recipient.

The scholarships, which are awarded based on financial need and individual merit, will help two Bedford residents begin their post-secondary school studies in higher education or vocational training.

Since its inception in 1971, the scholarship program has awarded a total of $85,500 in tuition scholarships to 95 Bedford students.

The Bedford Lions Club, in its 51st year of service to the community, welcomes membership inquiries; for information call Mike Sills at 472-5516
