Plymouth, NH. At 7:30 on Saturday, January 3rd, The Flying Monkey is excited to welcome comedienne Paula Pounstone to its stage. Paula Poundstone is an Emmy Award-winning comedian, author and humorist. She is currently a regular panelist on NPR’s widely popular weekly news quiz show, “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me.” On stage, she is known for her razor sharp wit and spontaneity with crowds. Tickets start at $29.
It is impossible to attend a Paula Poundstone performance without marveling at her ability to interact spontaneously with audience members in conversations bound to garner riotous laughter. Armed with nothing but a stool, a microphone, and a can of Diet Pepsi, Paula's ability to create humor on the spot has become the stuff of legend. Little wonder people leave Paula's shows debating whether the random people she talked to were "plants" -- which, of course they never are -- and complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughter.
Her off-kilter sensibility and impeccable timing made her a perfect fit for NPR's "oddly informative," weekly news quiz program, "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me," which she joined as a regular panelist seven years ago. Hosted by Peter Segal, the show is broadcast in 50 states and gives Poundstone a chance to match wits with some of today's leading pundits - not to mention interact with some of the people at the forefront of our nation's eyes, such as Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and former White House Press Secretary the late Tony Snow.
“We love it when Paula comes to Plymouth,” says Seth McNally of The Flying Monkey. “The thing that has made her a legend among comics and fans is her ability to be spontaneous with a crowd… it definitely separates her from the pack of comics working today.”
Tickets for Paula Poundstone’s show are $29, and $39 for premiere seating. For tickets and more information on concerts and the Flying Monkey Performance Center, visit www.flyingmonkeynh.com or call 603-536-2551.
