Wingmen: Obama, Biden do policy on the fly
At the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden held a political rally disguised as an official government visit, demonstrating all that is wrong with the Obama administration.
Biden announced that the United States would chase the murderers of James Foley and Steven Sotloff to “the gates of hell.” Did he clear that with the President first?
“We will degrade and destroy [ISIS] so that it is no longer a threat to Iraq, the region and United States,” Obama said on Wednesday. The same day, he also said “we can continue to shrink ISIL’s sphere of influence, its effectiveness, its financing, its military capabilities to the point where it is a manageable problem.”
On this hugely important matter of foreign policy, there is no consistency. The administration is winging it, which is business as usual. The administration lurches from crisis to crisis because it has no strategy for anything — except politics. For that, Obama has a strategy, which Biden was executing on Wednesday when he held a labor/Democratic Party rally at a Navy base. But actually governing? That they wing.
