DAVID ROTHMAN

UPDATED: Plymouth man arraigned in armed Bristol home invasion

BRISTOL — A Plymouth man broke into a woman’s home as she slept Tuesday morning and robbed her at gunpoint of $60, police said.

David Rothman, 27, walked through an unlocked door into the victim’s home on Timber Lane at 8:30 a.m. and pointed a revolved at her, said Lt. Kristopher Bean.

The victim, a 41-year-old female who was not named by police, feared for her life and gave Rothman all the money she had – $60, Bean said.

The two knew each other.

"We are calling it a home invasion," he said. "She knew him from times they’d hung out with each other in the past," Bean said. "He was a friend of some of her friends."

Police began searching for Rothman, who had been seen an hour before the attack by another officer in Bristol.

"(Rothman) was known to us from past experience," Bean said, declining to say if Rothman had committed any crimes in Bristol.

Rothman turned himself in at the Bristol police station at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night after police got word to him that he was wanted for a crime, Bean said.

Because a firearm was used, the crime is considered a Class A felony, and Rothman could get up to 7½ years in prison if convicted, he said.

He was arraigned in Grafton County Superior Court Thursday morning and bail was set at $20,000 cash, police said.
