Weapons, chain saws recovered; 4 charged in Bristol burglary

BRISTOL — Three men and a teenager are under arrest in connection with the theft of a dozen handguns from Newfound Sales and could face charges in other burglaries and gun thefts.

Lt. Kristopher Bean said police recovered 16 handguns — 10 stolen in Sunday’s burglary at Newfound Sales, 381 Lake St., and four others taken in two burglaries in Alexandria.

Bean said in the course of the investigation, police recovered 13 chain saws they believe were stolen in home burglaries in Bristol, Danbury and Alexandria, and discovered evidence connected to a recent burglary at Shackett's Super Market and Seafood Shack, 256 W. Shore Road, where a cash register was removed.

Bean said police have yet to find the cash register.

The investigation began Sunday at 7 a.m. when the burglary was discovered at Newfound Sales. Burglars broke into the sports shop at 3:50 a.m. that morning, Bean said.

On Tuesday, police arrested Dahlton Fairbank, 18, Damian Marinelli, 18, and Ronald Mills, 40, all of Bristol, and a 15-year-old juvenile from Alexandria.

Fairbank is charged with transporting drugs in a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, a firearm. Marinelli is charged with receiving stolen property, a firearm. Mills is facing a burglary charge.

The teen is charged with burglary, along with receiving stolen property and giving a false statement to law enforcement.

As part of the investigation, police searched residences and one motor vehicle, which they also seized.

Fairbank and Marinelli are being detained on $10,000 cash/surety bail after arraignment in 2nd District Court, Plymouth District Division. Mills is being held on $50,000 cash-only bail.

Bean said the four are currently only charged in connection with the Newfound Sales burglary, but the investigation is continuing.
