MANCHESTER — Manchester Community College started the first day of classes Tuesday with a record 2,947 students signed up for classes, an increase of nearly 200 students over the fall semester last year.
The college said its numbers for online school classes and incoming freshman were both up over last year, and students are taking heavier course loads this semester.
“We are working overtime to ensure that college is affordable for anyone who wants to get a degree,” says Susan Huard, president of MCC.
The most popular programs again this year include liberal arts, business, nursing and welding.
Manchester Community College has embarked on an effort to upgrade and expand its highly popular heating, ventilation and air-conditioning program.
“There is high demand for these jobs right now, and fortunately our graduates walk out of the classroom and right into a job,” Huard said.
