NH Fisher Cats, Pierre stun Rock Cats in 4-3 win
Gustavo Pierre picked a great time to hit his first Eastern League homer.
Pierre, who spent most of 2014 with High-A Dunedin, clubbed a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, wiping out a 3-2 deficit and helping the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 4-3 victory over the Rock Cats in New Britain, Conn., on Friday night.
In his seventh game with the Fishers, Pierre greeted Ryan O’Rourke (2-4), scoring Melky Mesa, who had run for Sean Ochinko (single).
Gregory Infante pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 22nd save. Richard Bleier, who worked a scoreless eighth inning, earned his sixth win in 11 decisions.
New Hampshire starter Michael Lee worked seven innings, allowing six hits and all three New Britain runs. He fanned eight.
K.C. Hobson accounted for the Fisher Cats’ other two runs. He doubled home a run in the second and knocked in another with a fielder’s choice groundout in the seventh.
