Fisher Cats get behind early, fall to Senators
The Harrisburg Senators outlasted the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to claim an 9-6 win at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Wednesday night.
The Fisher Cats (65-72) will host Harrisburg (51-86) tonight at 6:35 in the final home game of the season.
The Senators broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to build a 7-4 lead and never looked back.
Mitch Canham scored on a sacrifice fly from Quincy Latimore in the fourth to pull ahead, 5-4.
Matt Skole homered in the fifth, then Jason Martinson tripled and Drew Vettleson singled him home to make it 7-4.
New Hampshire got a run back in the fifth on doubles from Andy Burns (his third of the game) and Brad Glenn, but Harrisburg responded with a home run from Martinson in the seventh to forge an 8-5 lead.
Glenn hit his ninth home run of the year in the eighth to pull New Hampshire within two runs at 8-6, but the Fisher Cats could not get any closer.
Harrisburg built a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Adrian Sanchez singled with one out and Skole reached on an error, scoring Sanchez. Martinson doubles Skole home and Vettleson then doubled Martinson in. Canham singled to score Vettleson and make it 4-0.
New Hampshire got two back in the bottom of the fourth. Jon Berti singled and Burns doubled him home. Kevin Nolan drove in Berti with a single to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Fisher Cats tied the game in the third inning. Burns hit another double and came home on a Glenn single. Sean Ochinko hit a double to center, scoring Glenn to tie the game at 4-4.
