Derry police continue to look for missing gun left in courthouse bathroom
DERRY — Police say they continue to investigate after a security staff member forgot and left a loaded handgun Monday in the men’s room of the 10th Circuit Court building.
The staff member didn’t realize it was missing for about two hours, said Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas. When he returned to the restroom to look for it, the gun was gone.
He said the incident was reported by court security to police at about 10 30 a.m. on Monday. The staff member had left the gun in the bathroom before he was to open the court building for the day, Thomas said.
After the weapon was reported missing, court security, along with Derry police, searched the building.
A New Hampshire State Police search dog was also unable to find the gun.
