Concord attorney Leahy dies
CONCORD — Attorney Charles F. Leahy, former legal counsel to Gov. Walter Peterson, has died.
Leahy also served on the Concord school board and was a charter member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society, which supports civics education in public schools.
Leahy was born in Claremont. An obituary in the Concord Monitor noted that his grandfather was a lawyer and district court judge and that a great-uncle, John Leahy, was once chief justice of the state superior court.
Leahy graduated from Claremont’s Stevens High School and Yale University. He served in in the U.S. Army, including in Army Intelligence.
He graduated with honors from Harvard Law School in 1963.
Leahy was 79. He was born Feb. 27, 1935. He died last Thursday. He leaves his widow, Mary Susan (Stein), and an extended family.
