Bay State man hurt in Ripley Falls fall
A Massachusetts man severly injured both of his legs after falling nearly 35 feet off Ripley Falls in Harts Location on Saturday.
Marc A. Thalastis, 36, of Centerville, Mass., was scrambling up a nearly vertical portion of Ripley Falls when he fell at about 3:30 p.m. A registered nurse who was on the scene stabilized Thalastis before rescue personel got there.
Members of Bartlett Fire, Bartlett Jackson Ambulance, the Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Team, Twin Mountain Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service and Conservation Officers all responded to the scene. Thalastis had to be carried about half a mile to the trail head and was taken to Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
