Air Force still wants to retire Warthog jets, Ayotte still fighting to save it
ongress is set to reject the existing Air Force plan to save $3.5 billion by retiring the fleet of A-10 "Warthogs," which was used extensively to provide air support to ground troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. "Now is not the time to prematurely retire the Air Force's most combat-effective and cost-efficient close-air-support aircraft," she said in July after Senate appropriators backed keeping the jet.
