Veteran Arizona officer named Rindge police chief
..Todd Muilenberg has served on the Scottsdale Police Department for 24 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant and Watch Commander of the Uniformed Services Bureau, the select board said in an announcement Friday.
..Scottsdale police Lt. Muilenberg will be relocating to Rindge in order to assume his duties as chief on Sept. 22.
'Todd has extensive experience in team building, training, teaching and mentoring. He has worked with municipal boards and committees and has developed and implemented award-winning community policing initiatives. He will be a wonderful addition to the Rindge community,' Roberta Oeser, chairwoman of the select board said in the announcement...Muilenberg is a native of upstate New York and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1989 from the State University of New York at Oswego.
He is also a 2009 graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Command Staff School and a 2013 graduate of the Northwestern University Command Staff School...He has received numerous awards in Scottsdale, including the City Manager's Award for Excellence and the city's Community Policing Award, according to the select board.
However, in April 2005 Muilenberg was one of five Scottsdale police officers who were punished for their roles in a high-speed car chase. The chase resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man who was killed when the car being pursued by police crashed into the car the 22-year-old man was an occupant in, according to the East Valley Tribune, a Scottsdale newspaper. Muilenberg and another officer were suspended without pay following the incident.Muilenberg is replacing former police chief Frank Morrill, who surprised the select board in April when he announced his retirement form law enforcement after only a little more than a year as police chief...email@example.com
