Burglar nets undisclosed amount of cash in Domino’s robbery
MANCHESTER - A savvy burglar who entered Domino's Pizza, 91 Maple St., early Monday covered his face so he couldn't be identified from surveillance video.
Police said the facial coverage was so complete that a responding officer couldn't identify the burglar's ethnicity or race.
Police who responded to 3961 Brown Ave. Saturday morning at about 9 a.m., for an unwanted subject call approached a silver Pontiac Grand Am parked in the private lot of the apartment complex...Officer Scott Ardita said he noticed the driver reaching downward as he approached, so he ordered the driver to get out of the vehicle for his own safety while waiting for police backup.
Ardita said he was unsure if Tyler Haynes, 22, of 28 Trolley St,, was reaching for a weapon or attempting to destroy or conceal evidence...Haynes' wife, Amanda Haynes, 23, was a passenger in the vehicle. After Haynes got out of the car, Ardita said, he observed a white powdery substance on the floorboard in front of the driver's seat.
A test of the substance proved positive for cocaine...Haynes was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug. His wife was not charged with any crime and was released from the scene.
Robbery victim again
Crosstown Variety, 270 Amory St., was the victim of an armed robbery Saturday evening...The store, which has been robbed several times this year, was robbed by two men at about 10 p.m.
The clerk said both wore masks, but he could tell one was a white male, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, wearing a black sweatshirt, possibly with a green sports shirt underneath, and black pants and tennis shoes...He was wearing a black ski mask and was armed with a black handgun that he held in his left hand, the clerk said.
The clerk was unable to determine the race of the second robber, whose ski mask covered his entire face, except for the eye cutouts...The second robber, who held a black handgun in his right hand, was wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans and possibly boots, the clerk said.
Both robbers took an undisclosed amount and fled on foot...
