Two hurt when pickup hits Bedford bridal store
BEDFORD — Two people suffered minor injuries when a truck hit the front of the Modern Bride store on Route 101 Thursday.
Police were called to the store at 6:17 p.m. Thursday on a report of a motor vehicle hitting a building. According to Bedford police Sgt. Devon Kimball, the front of the Modern Bride building was damaged after being hit by a red 2010 Ford F150 pickup truck.
Kimball said police believe the pickup was traveling westbound on Route 101 when the driver suffered a medical incident and crossed over the eastbound lane in front of Ethan Allen furniture. The vehicle drove over a grassy area and continued on through the Fire Side Living store parking lot before side-swiping the Modern Bride building.
Kimball said the pickup truck knocked out support posts and concrete planters, carrying the debris into several parked cars. The pickup slammed into a parked car which was forced into a shallow ravine, causing the car to roll onto its side.
The pickup truck came to rest in a stand of trees in the northwest corner of the parking lot along Route 101. A total of four parked cars within the parking lot sustained damage, and the building sustained a moderate amount of damage to its façade and structural integrity of the front foyer.
The lone occupant of the truck, a male driver who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. An employee at the establishment was struck by flying glass and received minor injuries.
