LEBANON — A Vermont man has been arrested and charged with robbing Maplefields Convenience Store on Mechanic Street early Thursday morning, police said.

Skylar Smith, 22, of White River Junction, Vt., was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Thursday by Lebanon police on Plainfield Road in West Lebanon. Hartford, Vt., Police assisted in identifying Smith, police said.

He was charged with an outstanding parole violation warrant and armed robbery. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail at Grafton County House of Corrections pending arraignment today at the Second Circuit Court District Division in Lebanon.

Police responded to Maplefields around 1:15 a.m. Thursday for a report of a robbery.

Allegedly the clerk was held at knifepoint by a man who demanded money, Lebanon police said in a news release.

After receiving cash, the robber fled east on Mechanic Street, leaving the clerk uninjured, police said.

Police and a dog team searched the area, but had no success in locating the perpetrator, police said.

Police request anyone with information to call the Lebanon Police Department at 448-1212.
