U.S. Army Reserves Capt. Amy Fidler, a 2006 West Point graduate who serves as a Black Hawk medevac pilot at the 332nd Medical Brigade (Army Reserves) in Tennessee, is among the 2014 recipients of the Pat Tillman Scholarship.

She is the daughter of Carol Beard Bauer of Manchester and Stephen Bauer, both U.S. Air Force veterans.

Fidler, who served two deployments and seven years of active duty in the Army, plans to pursue a master's degree in social work at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., and then support military families in need.

The scholarship is in honor of Tillman, who put his NFL career on hold in 2002 to join the Army and then was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.

After his death, the Pat Tillman Foundation was created to invest in military veterans and their spouses through scholarships. The recipients chosen "show extraordinary academic and leadership potential, a true sense of vocation and a deep commitment to create positive change through their work in the fields of medicine, law, business, education and the arts."
