Officials suspend Jaffrey fatal accident investigation

JAFFREY — Unable to determine exactly who was behind the wheel, an investigation into a fatal crash on Route 202 in April 2013 has concluded with no charges.

“It’s been suspended at this point,” sad Cheshire County Attorney Chris McLaughlin.

The Honda had landed on its roof and caught fire. Passing motorists pulled the occupants from the burning wreck and called 911.

The alleged driver of the Honda, Franklin Pierce University freshman Edgard Henriquez, who is originally from Dedham, Mass., was hospitalized and was initially charged with aggravated DWI and negligent homicide.

Tyler Tobin of Dedham, Mass., was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough where he was treated and released. Henriquez was transferred to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., for more serious injuries.

The third occupant, Peter Melville, 19, of Dedham, Mass., died in the crash. Police said the cause of death as ruled by the medical examiner’s office was blunt force trauma.

McLaughlin said Tuesday that Melville was a passenger in the Honda, but investigators do no have enough evidence to determine whether Henriquez or Tobin was the driver, so charges are not moving forward at this point.
