Police seek answers in Epping moped crash

EPPING — Police are trying to figure out how and why a local woman crashed her moped on Mill Street on Wednesday afternoon, ending up in critical condition at a Massachusetts hospital.

Officer Stephen Soares said police found Annette Roberts, 52, lying in the street about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday. He said she does not appear to have hit anything or been hit by another car.

“She crashed right in the middle of the street,” he said.

She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Soares said. She was flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she in critical condition Wednesday evening, he said.

He said no witnesses to the accident have come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 679-5122.
