Avise Properties recently won the South Junior Deb U12 softball championship. The team went 19-0 for the season. This was the third straight title for some of the girls. Getting key hits in the final game were Alex Foote, Katy Klose, Brook Robert and Maricela Serratos-Vela. Jade Lasalle pitched a great game, striking out five and giving up three hits. Mystics softball sets tryout dates

The New Hampshire Mystics Junior Olympic fast-pitch softball program will hold tryouts at Tokanel Field, 5 Meadow Road, Windham, on the following dates and times:

U14: Monday and Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m.

U16 and U18: Tuesday, Wednesday and Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Flag football league to hold registrations

Youngsville will be holding registrations for the upcoming season at Youngsville Baseball and Flag Football Park, 1 Londonderry Turnpike, Manchester (across from Lake Massabesic) on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Youngsville is a member of the USA & NFL Flag Football organization.

There will be four divisions of the league for boys and girls 7-12. The season starts Monday, Aug. 25. Cost is $65, which includes jersey and flags.

Children from the following towns are eligible to play: Manchester, Auburn, Allenstown, Bedford, Candia, Chester, Derry, Deerfield, Raymond, Epsom, Goffstown, Hooksett, Pembroke, Londonderry and Bow.

Merrimack girl shines at Jr. Olympics track

Caroline Fischer, 12, of Merrimack, recently competed at the USATF Junior Olympics track and field Region 1 championship in Fitchburg, Mass. She placed first in both the 1,500 meters, in 4:59, and the 800 meters, in 2:25, qualifying her for national competition.

In the nationals, in Houston, she ran an outstanding 1,500-meter race against a strong field of 48 runners. She narrowly missed the silver medal spot by .02 seconds and claimed third with a personal record of 4:54. That finish gave her a sixth All America running title, and she was New Hampshire’s sole 2014 USATF Junior Olympic All America runner.

Youngsville looks for fall ball players

Youngsville Athletic Association is looking for players from ages 9 through high school for the upcoming fall baseball season.

The league will play doubleheaders on Saturdays or Sundays starting Sept. 6 and running through Oct. 26. Signups are set for Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Youngsville Park across from Lake Massabesic.

Swimmer Chun sets two N.E. records

Executive Swim Club’s Julian Chun, of Bedford, recently set two New England swimming records for the 11-12 boys’ age group.

Chun, 12, competed at the New England Age Group Championships and swam the 50-meter breaststroke in 34.28 to break the record set in 2000. Two days later, he set the 200-meter breaststroke record, swimming a 2:44.99, breaking the mark of 2:45.17 set in 2005.

Chun also won the 100 breaststroke during the meet, which was held at the Jenny Thompson Pool in Dover.

Chun will next compete for the New England team in the Eastern Zone Championships in Richmond, Va., on Wednesday through Sunday. He trains at the Executive Health and Sports Center in Manchester.
