Keene Swamp Bats outslug Danbury

Zach Lauricella blasted two homers to lead the Keene Swamp Bats to an 8-7 victory over the Danbury (Conn.) Westerners before 985 fans on Saturday night at Keene's Alumni Field.

Lauricella, from St. John's University, smoked a three-run homer and a two-run shot to lead Keene (16-18).

The Swamp Bats once led 7-3, but Danbury tied it with three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Keene regained the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth, on a wild pitch.

Keene's late relief pitching excelled. Michael Dunnigan hurled a scoreless seventh and eighth, and Southern New Hampshire University's Ben Criscuolo pitched a perfect ninth, striking out two.

Taylor Perez (St. Leo) added a solo homer for Keene, which visits Mystic (Conn.) tonight at 6:05 p.m.
