CLAREMONT — Director of Public Works Bruce Temple plans to join the city of Lebanon’s Department of Public Works next month.

“As part of the DPW community, I am familiar with Bruce’s work at the City of Claremont and have a great deal of respect for his professionalism and accomplishments,” Lebanon DPW director Mike Lavalla said in an announcement Friday. “I look forward to him joining the DPW management team.”

Temple has been with Claremont for the past eight years and will be missed, Claremont city manager Guy Santagate said Monday.

“He’s been a great employee,” Santagate said. “I have nothing but praise.”

Lebanon city manager Greg Lewis and Lavalla said in an announcement Friday that Temple will start as assistant director at the Lebanon Department of Public Works in August.

“We engaged in a lengthy, thorough and thoughtful selection process for this critical position and I am very pleased that Bruce will be joining us,” Lewis said. “Bruce brings to the City of Lebanon a wealth of experience and I am confident that he will be instrumental in helping Director Lavalla meet the challenges and opportunities that our vibrant city presents.”

Temple has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont and a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida.

He is a professional engineer, licensed in the state of Vermont. He lives in Claremont with his wife, Marcia.
