Probable cause hearings set for pair facing series of drug charges

NASHUA — Two people who Nashua Police say were making daily trips in the Nashua area strictly for the purpose of distributing narcotics are scheduled for probable cause hearings next week in 9th Circuit Court-District Division-Nashua.

Yahaira Acevedo-Torres, 27, of 37 Crown St., Nashua, faces multiple felony charges: two sale of a narcotic, six criminal liability for the conduct of another (unlawful sale of a narcotic), and four possession of narcotic with intent to distribute.

Police said Acevedo-Torres had in her possession, after her arrest: 59 individually wrapped packages of crack cocaine, 13 individually wrapped packages of heroin, seven packages of cocaine and a package of 50 30-mg oxycodone hydrochloride pills.

Police said that was probably a day’s supply for distribution in the city and had a street value of $5,200.

Luis Ruiz-Gonzalez, 22, who had no fixed address, was charged with five felonies: four counts of second offense sale of a narcotic (cocaine) and one count of criminal liability for the conduct of another.

Acevedo-Torres and Ruiz-Gonzalez could enter no plea to the felony charges at their arraignments Monday in Circuit Court, so probable cause hearings were set so a judge can determine whether there is sufficient evidence to send the cases to the Hillsborough County South grand jury for possible indictment.

The probable cause hearing for Acevedo-Torres was set for July 15 and for Ruiz-Gonzalez, July 16.
