Firefighters have close call with lightning at Vt. blaze
Several firefighters were taken to a hospital Wednesday after they were near a lightning strike while battling a fire in Guilford, Vt.
“Several firefighters from Guilford and other towns were in close proximity to a lightning strike and were transported to be checked out,” a post on the fire department’s Facebook said.
Hinsdale, N.H., Fire Chief Jay Matuszewski said firefighters from his department responded to the fire, which is near the border with New Hampshire. No one from his department was injured, he said.
“The job is dangerous enough,” he said. “When you get Mother Nature throwing stuff at you too while you’re dealing with everything else, it sure makes it interesting.”
