AG's office mum on probe into death of Lyman infant

LYMAN — The criminal investigation continues into last week’s death of a 4-month-old Lyman boy and trauma suffered by his twin sister who remains hospitalized with brain injuries.

No arrests have been made.Police and rescue crews discovered the male infant in “medical distress” after being called to a single-family house at 310 Quebec Road about 4:50 a.m. June 18. They took the child to a local hospital where he died. Police also found the baby’s twin sister inside and brought her to the hospital.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery A. Strelzin on Thursday identified the residents as Linda Tellier, Patina Welch and Trevor McGuire.

The cause and manner of the infant’s death is pending autopsy results, Strelzin said. That information is typically released through the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

Town resident Cindy Fraser said Thursday she and her husband, Kevin, who also live on Quebec Road, wonder with many others in town what happened to the babies and what the state’s response will be.
“We don’t know the people. We’re watching the news and listening to the radio. People are talking all kinds of different things. We’re wondering when they’ll come out with the medical information,” Fraser said.

At her residence at 305 Quebec Road across the road from, No. 310, the home where the babies lived, Christine Cornell said Thursday, “It’s all rumor. Nobody knows anything.”

Although Cornell and her husband, Keith, live nearby, she said the homes are out of view of each other in the wooded area.
“We’re up in the woods here. We don’t know them, and you don’t see them; they’re not around outside.”

Town Clerk Carol Messner said she knows nothing more than when the Union Leader interviewed her the day after the incident.

She said while speculation has been rampant in town generally, the matter has not been a big topic of discussion at her office in the town of just over 500 residents.
