Fitzwilliam teen hurt in rollover expected to recover

FITZWILLIAM — A teenager seriously injured in a rollover crash on Old Turnpike Road Tuesday afternoon is expected to make a full recovery, police said Wednesday.

Jeffrey Roy, 17, of Fitzwilliam was ejected from the driver’s side window of his 1995 Toyota pickup truck, said Fitzwilliam Officer Jeffrey Clark.

Clark responded to the crash about 3 p.m..

Roy was close to home and returning from his job when the crash occurred, Clark said.

“He had lost control of his vehicle on the dirt road due to excessive speed, started to fishtail and started to yaw, a sideways skid, and then rolled over,” Clark said. “He was ejected, out the open driver side window, no seat belt.”

Roy complained of hip and leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene with serious injuries.

Clark said that according to a medical update Wednesday Roy has no broken bones, but was “pretty banged up.”

He is expected to recover.

Police estimate the teen was traveling 55 to 60 mph in the 30 mph zone.
