Unbelievable: What Hillary Clinton isEDITORIAL

Hillary Clinton says things that are so indefensible that they would be called “shocking” or “outrageous” were they to come from the mouth of a less skilled politician, which includes every politician in the United States of America save one. She happens to be married to that one. (Talent is not the same as skill, as she learned in the 2008 presidential primaries.)
During a Sunday interview on CBS News, Clinton was asked about the prospects of a woman being nominated for President in 2016. “Whoever runs has to recognize that the American political system is probably the most difficult, even brutal, in the world,” she said.
Of all Americans, a former secretary of state ought to know how preposterous that statement is. In Mexico, candidates are regularly targeted for assassination. In Iraq, hit squads go after candidates and their families. In October, bombers killed five people at an election rally in India. In Pakistan last year, two secular candidates for low-level offices were murdered by the Taliban.
The week before last, Clinton claimed she and Bill left the White House “dead broke,” referring to the time just before they bought a $3 million mansion.
One might be tempted to ask: “What difference, at this point, does it make?” That depends on whether she draws a credible 2016 primary challenger bold enough to call out her casual lying. She got one in 2008, and look what a difference that made.
