Man carried off Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail

SARGENT'S PURCHASE - A Canadian man was carried off the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail on Tuesday after injuring himself while hiking from the peak of Mount Washington, according to a release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Paul Reid, 67, of Carp, Ontario, had stayed Monday night at Lakes of the Clouds. After departing Tuesday to hike down the mountain, an injury he'd suffered Monday gradually worsened and a volunteer firefighter, Barry Nelson of Jefferson, tried to help him hike, but ultimately called Fish and Game officers as Reid's condition deteriorated, the release said.

He was taken to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment, the release said.
