Dartmouth College senior Abbey D’Agostino, the most prolific track and field athlete in Ivy League history, took third in the 5,000-meter run on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
D’Agostino, attempting to become the third woman to win the NCAA outdoor 5,000 in three straight years, crossed the line in 15:43.54, behind winner Murielle Hall of Texas (15:35.11) and Aisling Cuffe of Stanford (15:37.74).
Despite the third-place finish, D’Agostino earned a 13th career First Team All-America recognition.
Also Saturday at the NCAAs, UNH junior John Prizzi placed eighth out of 12 competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event.
Prizzi finished with a school-record time of 8 minutes and 44.02 seconds, besting his previous school-record time of 8:47.30, which he recorded on May 31 at the NCAA Regional Championships in Jacksonville.
