Keene woman to appear for hearing in fatal hit-and-run

KEENE — The woman accused of being the driver that caused a fatal hit-and-run crash on Route 101 on Nov. 2 is set to appear for a plea and sentencing hearing next month.

The hearing is set for July 25 at 9 a.m. in Cheshire County Superior Court, according to court documents.

Tracey A. Burroughs, 41, of Keene was indicted on charges of negligent homicide, conduct after an accident and two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated by the Cheshire County Superior Court Grand Jury on Jan. 31.
Burroughs filed a plea of not guilty the same day.

“Burroughs knew, or should have known, that she had just been involved in an accident which resulted in death, personal injury or damage to property,” according to the indictments.
Burroughs is accused of being behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit and killed cyclist Keon E. Ioannou, 48, of Keene around 1:50 a.m. on Nov. 2.

She was arrested later that morning at the home she shared with Ioannou and her two children.
Ioannou was the chef and owner of Tony Clamato’s Ristorante on Court Street.

Burroughs worked for Ioannou as a waitress.

He was riding his bicycle home when the incident took place. According to the indictment, Ioannou suffered traumatic blunt force trauma including a broken leg, a skull fracture and damage to his brain.
She and Ioannou shared a home at 878 Marlboro Road.

They had been in a relationship in the past, but according to friends of Ioannou after the hit and run, the pair had just been friends for some time.
She continues to be held at the Cheshire County House of Corrections.
