Police say man texted threat to coworker at Hudson firm

HUDSON — A Taunton, Mass., man may be facing felony charges after allegedly threatening one of his coworkers with supposed biohazards at a Hudson business, forcing local law enforcement to summon area HAZMAT teams.

James Weeks Jr., 28, was charged with criminal threatening following Thursday morning’s incident at TRM, Inc., located at 17 Friars Dr.

Police and fire crews were summoned to the scene shortly after 7 a.m., when a TRM employee reported receiving threatening text messages from Weeks, according to Hudson Police Lt. David Bianchi.

“The subject stated that there was a biohazard on the desk that this employee uses,” Bianchi said. “This was repeated again in a second text, although the text didn’t say what kind of biohazard was involved.”

The victim was evaluated at the scene by Hudson Fire personnel and later transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution to rule out any chance of possible biohazard exposure.

The Nashua Fire Hazardous Materials Unit conducted a thorough evaluation of the scene, though no known threats were found. Bianchi said Weeks is an employee of TRM, but works mainly in Massachusetts. Taunton Police are also investigating the incident.

“Due to the alarming nature of the incident, we’re investigating this case as a felony level false public alarm,” Bianchi said, noting that multiple charges may be forthcoming.
