Costs increasing for school maintenance garage
On Tuesday night, the school board approved the sub-contracting bids for the maintenance garage. The bids added up to a total project cost of $241,615, which is about $15,000 more than was slated for the project in May.
Because of the soil issues on the site, the low bid for the site work came in at $68,500, about $39,000 over what was initially budgeted.
The biggest savings in the sub-contracting bids came through the electrical work, which was initially slated at $30,000.
District facilities manager Jack Messenheimer said the bids came in low because the district decided to go with overhead rather than underground utilities.
