Construction begins on Jehovah's Witnesses hall in Manchester

MANCHESTER — Work started Wednesday on a 5,000-square-foot structure destined to become the new worship spot for three Manchester congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Hundreds of volunteers descended on the Candia Road location where the Kingdom Hall will be built.

.
The volunteers are from New Hampshire and Vermont, said Peter Scribner, a Jehovah’s Witness who lives in the Manchester.

Traditionally, Kingdom Halls are built by a throng of volunteers who spend a few days working on getting a building up, he said.
..
“We’re used to doing everything over the weekend,” he said.

The shell of the building should go up in about a day, and it should be open for worship by July.

Three congregations plan to use the space — north Manchester, south Manchester and a Spanish-speaking congregation.
..
The building replaces a South Mammoth Road location that the Manchester Kingdom Hall outgrew and sold two years ago.

Site work began on the lot, which is close to the GoldenRod Drive-in Restaurant, in April.
