Boscawen home nearly destroyed in blaze

BOSCAWEN - A fast-moving fire nearly destroyed a single-family home Tuesday evening, Fire Chief Ray Fisher said.

The two-alarm blaze at 169 King St. started in a garage about 5 p.m. Tuesday and quickly spread to the attached home while a woman and two children were inside, Fisher said. The occupants were able to exit the home safely, he said.

"The garage was fully involved" by the time firefighters arrived, he said. "The house is about a 75 percent loss."

The fire was brought under control about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, he said. There were no injuries in the fire, which is not considered suspicious, he said.

Firefighters have not determined what caused the fire, he said.
