Finders, keepers doesn't apply in theft of forgotten cash in Concord
Police said the incident took place on May 10 at Walmart, 344 Loudon Road.
The woman made a purchase at one of the self checkout registers, using her debit card to pay for the items. As part of the transaction, she asked for $60 cash back from her debit card.
She became distracted, however, and forgot to take her $60. She left the store with the items she bought, mistakenly leaving the cash behind.
About 20 to 30 minutes later, she realized her error and returned to Walmart. No one had turned in the cash.
The woman provided a receipt that showed her purchases and her cash back transaction of $60. The time stamp on the transaction was for May 10 at 2:39 p.m.
Police obtained video from Walmart which shows a man using the same register immediately after the woman. In the video, the white, middle-aged man, wearing a green T-shirt, removed money from the payment machine before he started his own transaction. He then scanned his items and used the woman's money to make his purchase.
Police are asking the public for their assistance in identifying the man. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100, or submit information online at www.concordregionalcrimeline.com, or text TIP 234 and a message to CRIMES (274637).
