Laconia man in wheelchair dies after being struck by van
LACONIA — Police said John Giuffrida, 82, whose motorized wheelchair was struck by a minivan Saturday afternoon, has died.
Giuffrida was crossing South Main Street from Vista Foods when his motorized wheelchair was struck at about 2:50 p.m. by a minivan driven by Claire Haynes, 65, of Belmont.
Police said Haynes was traveling northbound on South Main Street when her vehicle struck the wheelchair. Giuffrida was transported to the Lakes Region General Hospital by the Laconia Fire Department.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
